My journey to naturopathic medicine began when I started investigating Pharmacy schools. I had always known I wanted to help people and my penchant for chemistry made pharmacology an excellent fit, or so I thought.
While researching schools, I came across the field of naturopathic medicine and started investigating what it had to offer. After 4 years of sitting through pharmacology I had a deep understanding of both the appropriate uses and the shortcoming of pharmaceutical medications. I wanted to learn what other interventions were available and how I might blend the two. After graduating summa cum laude with a bachelors of science in Pharmacology & Toxicology from University at Buffalo, SUNY, I started my four year medical program at Southwest College of Naturopathic Medicine. Over the course of my education I had the honor of being trained and guided by some of the foremost specialists in Classical Homeopathy, Nutrition, Botanical Medicine, Gastroenterology, Endocrinology, Women’s Health and Environmental Medicine..
Over the past four years I have been involved in Naturopaths Without Borders; serving as President, trip coordinator, and attending over 35 weekend clinics in Puerto Penasco, Mexico. Each weekend I worked with several patients who had no access to healthcare and many times could not afford a single meal per day. We used nutrition assistance along with naturopathic care and medication when needed to successfully treat conditions such as diabetes, asthma, chronic pain, infections, hypertension and many others. My passion for underserved populations has driven me to incorporate service practices into my career as a Naturopathic doctor. This in combination with over 8 years of serving as a teaching assistant, tutor, and peer mentor has honed invaluable skills in education and motivation that allow me to empower you to meet your health goals.
I am passionate about helping individuals along their health journey. I believe it is important to understand the entire person in order to facilitate healing. I have experience in a wide variety of conditions such as Women’s Health, hormonal irregularities, diabetes, hypertension, IBS, thyroid conditions, autoimmunity, anxiety, depression, sleep disturbances and many more. My special interests lie in fertility, preconception, and perinatal care.
You can expect your visit to be comprehensive, utilizing physical exams, lab results, and your history to paint a picture of your entire health status. I believe it is important to understand the entire person in order to facilitate healing. Your treatment will include a unique combination of nutritional support, botanical medicine, homeopathy, and even prescription medication when indicated. I have received additional training in IV therapy, injection therapy and Mayan Uterine Massage, which I incorporate into my practice along with other physical medicine such as hydrotherapy, TCM cupping and Kinesio Taping.
