COMING FROM THE HEART

It’s June and the time for many transitions. Children become adults; they graduate and begin employment or college and some commit to a marriage bond. Many people are planning for their summer vacation and deciding whether to stay at home this year or explore somewhere new. Spring finishes its bloom, while summer begins its steady warmth. There are many endings and many new and exciting beginnings. It is a time to be in and express our hearts. Instead we are often so busy and preoccupied that most of us run around and remain in our heads and unconscious patterns.

The heart has a corresponding chakra, an organ of the soul. The chakras are energy centers that form along the spine and have different physical and emotional attributes and capacities. The heart chakra resides in the center, emanating from the chest, the rhythmic system of the body, which mediates between the head and the abdomen. This chakra helps to balance all the others. When the heart chakra is in balance we are balanced emotionally, have a clear consciousness, have healthy circulation, and remain generally peaceful. Out of balance we can suffer from anxiety and panic attacks, general stress, heart conditions, depression, and lack of energy. These conditions in turn interfere with our ability to manifest our intentions and our lives.

There are many ways that you can balance your heart chakra. One potent exercise uses active imagination. We can imagine a pink light. When you breathe in, imagine that light, raying into your heart chakra. As you breathe out, imagine the pink light raying out through your heart chakra and your hands. This exercise will help bring your focus away from your head and to the heart and to a more loving and balanced place. Also, we can use the aromatherapy oils of rose, jasmine and lavender. Add a few drops into your bath water, non-scented lotions and oils or infuse it in an aromatherapy burner.

Rose quartz, red garnet and emerald are associated with the Heart Chakra. These crystals can help balance the Heart Chakra. Wear them, carry them in your pockets, hold them in your hands or place them directly on the heart chakra.

It is a beautiful time of the year. Don’t miss it by getting caught up too much in thought or routine. Remember to take time for yourself and your loved ones. Open your heart and feel and contribute to all of the love that surrounds you! Along with all of the photos you take of these precious moments and transitions, remember to enshrine a few in your heart to reflect and cherish in the years to come.

“The important thing is not to think much but to love much; and so do that which best stirs you to love.” -Teresa of Avila
